Attard is mainly a residential village in the Central region of Malta and is home of the President of Malta at San Anton Palace. Over the centuries Attard has been home to many Noble people evidence for which are the many impressive properties still around today.

Having a population of 10,650 persons in a small area of 6.6km² giving Attard a density of 1600 persons/km², this density has increased immensely over the last 20 years as Attard has become a much sought after area which just goes to show how things have changed as Attard was once the smallest of The Three Villages consisting of Attard, Lija and Balzan.

The name Attard is said to have come from the first ever residents surname and is known to have the Arabic meaning of perfume Atr. Their village feast of Santa Marija is held on the 15th August every year which is also celebrated in another 6 villages making it the largest feast on the Island.

The Corinthia Palace Hotel is one of the most upmarket hotels on the Island. It can be found just across the road from San Anton Palace which is very popular with the Maltese for its splendid gardens, always open to the public.
